Since the beginning, Applebee's has been a popular neighborhood restaurant focused on serving good food to good people. In 1980 Bill and TJ Palmer opened T.J. Applebee's Rx for Edibles & Elixirs,® in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1983 the Palmers sell the Applebee's concept to W.R. Grace and Company. Then in 1986 the name is changed to Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. In 2000 Applebee's introduces a new menu and the number of Applebee restaurants climbs over 1,250. All the Applebee's stores employ approximately 28,000 employees company-wide.
